Hygiene Officer

Requirements:

- High/technical school diploma in medicine;  specialization courses in management or chemistry (desirable);
- General knowledge and understanding of hospitality industry; prior experience in service sector;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a large high profile guest related property; hotel property (desirable)
- Experienced in managing and training employees effectively to ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards;
- Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety standards
- Confident to lead health and safety rules, regulations, training materials across all levels in the organization
- Good  communication and observation skills;
- Multi-tasking capability;
- Ability to walk for extended periods of time;
- Neat, clean and well-groomed appearance;
- Dedicated and high level of accurateness and attention to detail;
- Sociable and outgoing;
- Good level of English & Russian (guest interaction level);
- Friendly personality;
- Highly intuitive;

Job Duties:

To provide technical health, safety & environment support to the Hotel associates & guests.
Specific responsibilities include the management of (as well as conducting as appropriate) inspections, audits, investigations, risk assessments, etc. of Hyatt Hotels Baku businesses and activities, as well as other service providers & contractors to ensure compliance with legislation, Hyatt standards & industry good practice, with subsequent provision of written reports, other communications, documentation & records and delivery of safety at work training courses to the hotel associates. The main aim is to ensure that high standards of health & safety are maintained & as appropriate and continuously improved.
- Manage, supervise & oversee health, safety & hygiene operations and activities of the Hyatt Hotels Baku and its associates.
- Conduct Health & Safety audits of all areas of the Hotels’ operations, including activities of external contractors.
- Carry out the risk assessments in all areas of the Hotel premises and actively identify potential risks and create awareness among the associates and management.

- Provide recommendations to meet health & safety regulations, standards & good practice.
- Promote good health and safety practices within the organization and develop safer and healthier ways of working.
- To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the grooming standards;
- To maintain good working relationships with your colleagues and all other departments.
- Examine machinery and equipment (as appropriate), such as lifting devices, machine shields and scaffolding, to make sure they meet appropriate safety regulations & good practice (this is in addition to any other “user” / third party test).
- Ensure that personal protective equipment & clothing are being used in workplaces according to regulations and that dangerous materials are correctly stored.
- Identify and examine work areas for potential accident and health hazards & advise on appropriate control measures.
- Ensure that the organization is aware of, and complies with, all legislation in relation to the use of its plant, equipment and substances, as well as in all workplace activities.
- Observe & report on emergency procedures, drills, practices, etc.
- Communicate frequently with management to report on the status of health and safety.
- Assist with the development of health and safety systems, including standards, policies, procedures, guidance, manuals, etc. 
- Follow up & investigate reports of pests & other pest problems. Ensure standards of pest control, pest proofing & prevention are maintained. Follow up & action pest control contractor’s reports, etc.
- As appropriate monitor & audit operations of various activities against established &/or accredited systems.
- Carry out audits of all food & beverage outlets, kitchens & other food related areas.
- As directed, carry out food hygiene (& safety / environmental) audits of external suppliers & produce appropriate reports.
- Investigation of food related complaints, i.e. foreign bodies, suspected / alleged food poisoning / food borne illness, etc.
- Generally check compliance with food hygiene & safety procedures & appropriate legislation / regulations, Hyatt standards & international good practice.
