Manager, Student Services

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position reports to the Associate Vice Rector for Student Services and Alumni Affairs carrying a supervisor role for the team of student services specialists.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Providing leadership, supervision and administrative direction to all programs and services in the division for Student Services;
• Preparing cost estimates for budget recommendations; submitting justifications for budget items; monitoring and controlling expenditures. Identifying and pursuing alternative funding sources;
• Reviewing and evaluating assigned programs and services; recommending and implementing approved plans and policies to facilitate and improve the operations and programs of Student Services;
• Developing special programs to better engage diverse population of students from various backgrounds;
• Providing administrative direction to diversity and inclusivity programs, ensuring broader student population awareness about inclusivity and diversity;
• Supervising and directing co-curricular class scheduling, instructor and trainer selection process, monitoring enrollment and maintaining group size;
• Supervising, and engaging in strategic planning in the areas of student governments, clubs, activities, health & wellness and extra-curricular programs;
• Preparing, reviewing interpreting, and analyzing a variety of complex and multi-faceted information, data, and reports; making recommendations based on findings;
• Developing and generating statistical data and reports related to Student Services programs, presenting that data and findings on committees and important University meetings;
• Administering the Student Code of Conduct due process and student discipline, adjudicating a student appeals and grievances;
• Advising and closely collaborating with student leaders to direct and pursue common goals;
• Ensuring collaborative work intra and cross-departmental to support Academic Affairs and compliment to the students learning & development process;
• Working closely and encouraging faculty involvement in student organizations and activities outside of classrooms to develop reach and diverse learning communities;
• Serving as a liaison with employees, students, and external organizations to create community outreach and opportunities for student engagement;
• Supporting and coordinating activities pertaining to graduation ceremonies, as well as on-boarding orientations, Honor Code ceremonies;
• Offering new approaches and programs to respond to changing and developing needs of students. Monitoring and conducting regular inquiry into student needs and expectations;
• Utilizing technology as tools to enhance the delivery of student affairs and services programs;
• Initiating and conducting regular evaluation and assessment of student services programs and activities;
• Carrying responsibility for recruiting, training and developing the team of students services specialists according in line with philosophy and norms of ethics at ADA University. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration or other related degree;
• Minimum 4 years of work experience in educational environment, specifically direct engagement with students and student support services;
• Minimum 2 years of experience in managerial position;
• Proven competence in leadership and administration;
• Proficiency in Azerbaijani and English, Russian is a plus;
• Effective communicator with approachable manner and friendliness;
• Flexibility and positive attitude;
• Well-developed approach to details and timely actions;
• Service-oriented with a great sense of ethics and norms.
