Title: Commercial Officer

Reports to: Legal and Commercial Manager

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• Developing relationships with existing and prospective customers; conducting negotiations on commercial aspects of the Company’s transactions;
• Providing support and advice to the management and staff with regard to chartering and contract management issues;
• Contract administration: preparation of Variation Orders, Purchase Orders, Amendments;
• ERP (SAP) system administration, including commercial, sales and contract administration modules;
• Regular review and monitoring of the contract administration process; implementation of policies and procedures for optimization of such process;
• Review of contracts and amendments/revisions to contracts for identification of potential commercial risks that may arise out of contracts;
• Supporting Legal and Commercial Manager and Chief Legal Officer, contributing to the development of business strategies, road maps, plans and priorities, identifying opportunities for mitigation of potential risks in the market;
• Communication with potential customers on availability of the services by the company;
• Negotiations with customers on requests for third party services and due formalization of such requests;
• Maintaining and updating the Company status in qualification (vendor management) systems, ensuring the Company’s ability to participate in tenders; administration of existing contracts via respective qualification systems;
• Ensuring compliance (where appropriate) with the Company’s Policies and Procedures in accordance with the requirements of Quality Standard ISO 9001, Occupational Health & Safety Standard OHSAS 18001, Environmental Standard ISO 14001.


• University / College Degree / Diploma in Economics with at least 3 years’ experience in related fields of activity.
• Ability to work with contracts and contractual documents (amendments, addendums, etc.).
• Skills in contract administration: preparation of drafts, amendments to contracts, variation orders, contract reviews.
• Professional communications skills, both verbal and written, are absolutely critical
• Organizational and planning skills, ability to work on many tasks for many different clients simultaneously.
• Understanding specifics of work and objectives of the company and general contractors and subcontracting organizations.
• Advanced PC user: knowledge of such programs as MS Office, Adobe PDF editor, experience of work with Procurement and/or Contract Management software (incl. web-based).
• Perfect negotiations skills.
• Fluent in English, Azerbaijani and Russian (writing skills in all three languages are critical).
• Teamwork, pro-activity, quality focused, detail oriented, high level of accuracy, diligence, and self-motivation

Secondary (additional) requirements:

• Experience of work in marine industry and/or in logistics activity.
• Experience of work with major oil and gas companies operating in Azerbaijan.
• Experience of work in sales/marketing and customer relations.
• Knowledge in ISO and/or OHSAS standards and requirements.
• Knowledge/experience of work with companies involved in PSA (Product Share Agreement) activities.
