Role Summary

Responsible for interpreting and translating business, technical, legal and scientific written or spoken materials including letters, reports, articles, books etc. into one or more languages. Ensures meaning and context are maintained, creates glossaries or term dictionaries. The ideal candidate possesses knowledge of multiple languages and has a keen eye for detail. Part of the job is to provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and work well with others. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and at least 5 years of related experience working with individual clients and corporations.

Work Environment: Office, in-country travel, active, onshore, computer and technology use


- Reads through or listens to material in one language, ascertains understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and converts it into a second language, making sure to preserve the original meaning
- Translates online, video, and television media by providing subtitles when needed
- Consults with subject matter experts and other colleagues in order to understand specialised concepts and translate them appropriately
- Refers to online translation tools for additional assistance with translation
- Uses highly specialised translation software to encourage efficiency and consistency
- Adheres to industry quality standards and ensures that all completed work follows legal and ethical obligations
- Translates a variety of documents including literary, legal, research, technical, scientific, educational, and commercial materials
- Attend meetings to translate discussions
- Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy
- Follow up with internal team members and clients to ensure translation meets their needs
- Network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices
- Continually take language fluency assessments to certify fluency
- Provides general and technical administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Resolve administrative problems
- Cover the reception desk when required
- Provide general support to visitors

Skills & Attributes

• At least 5+ years of relevant experience working with individual clients and corporations.
• Must be fluent in Azerbaijani and English languages. Fluency in Russian is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organization.
• Self-motivated with high level initiative.
• High level of attention to detail.

Competency Standards - M / P, Y / N

- Bachelor’s Degree in Language science or relevant field P
- Proven experience as a translator and interpreter M
- Fluency in Azerbaijan and English languages M
- Fluency in Russian language P
- Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors M
- Good knowledge of content editing tools M
- Familiarity with translation software M
- Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc. M
- The ability to grasp new concepts quickly, e.g. technical terms
- Outstanding communication abilities M
- Ability to work to deadlines M
- Excellent written and spoken Azerbaijani and English
