OCTG Supervisor

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:

(results this role is expected to accomplish)

1. Operations
1.1 Functional performance.  – QC – NDT & Yard Inspection
• Supervise & manage  all Yard QC Inspectors, QA/QC activities and ensure that process is followed and maintained as per QMS & HSE – management system  requirements
• Visual/ Dimensional Inspection of all types threaded connections like API connections, VAM, Tenaris, GP,  Hunting  & other types Premium Thread connections
• Visual Inspection, Hardness Testing & NDT Testing of Newly welded products -Reworked & Repaired areas.
• Identify Non-conforming items, Segregate / Quarantine and Identify Root Causes or cause of defect.and Re-inspect the NC Parts for completion/ Close-out of Reworked areas.
• Supervise & manage all Final Yard Inspection activities like Visual, Internal Bore Clean-up, Tally check & Drifting.
• Ensure all QC Inspection activities are recorded in required Document forms and maintained in the Job Files.
• Prepare QA/QC Documentation packages as required by QA/QC Plan/ Procedures and ensure that these are sent the relevant customer contacts  and a copy of these Documentation are maintained in Job Files.

1.2 HSE Responsibilities
• Ensure Safe Handling of OCTG Pipes, Tools, Parts, Storage/ Protection of Parts & products are done in Yard area.
• Ensure Pipe Thread Protection, Greasing & Bumper Rings for 13CR Pipes are done/ maintained by QC Inspectors.
• Ensure the 5S Housekeeping are maintained, improved in Yard QC area  – free from Environmental aspects
• Minimize Environmental impacts to surrounding atmosphere when engaged in work process.
• Understand Hazards/ Risk involved in designated work area, ensure that adequate Controls/ Safety procedures & safe methods are used & implemented to minimize Risks, Mitigate & reduce Hazards.
• Perform Job safety Analysis(JSA) or Task Risk assessments(TRA) to identify Risks/Hazards in new type of work/activity introduced or change in process from Normal process & ensure that these changes/ Risks & Hazards are communicated to Yard QC Inspectors, Peers & colleagues.

1.3 QMS
• Assist with the care and maintenance of Inspection equipment. & proper Storage, protection etc.
• Calibration of inspection equipment like Drifts, Hardness Equipments, Micrometers & Callipers.
• Daily Verification Logging of NDT Equipments, Hardness Tester, Microscopes etc.
• Identifying potential/ current problem areas analysis of organization error reports.
• Develop Error Proofing Devices, SMED /Quick change over Dies & participate in KAIZEN LEAN projects which helps in improving Work process, Reduces Time/Motion and minimizes Waste?

1.4 Documentation and reporting.
• Report about all finding errors/ deviations to  HSEQ Manager & Prepare NCR Reports, submit to HSEQ Manager/ Operation manager for Disposition
• To document all activities, generate Inspection reports. Tally Reports, NDT & Hardness Test Reports
• Ensure that all Inspection Documentation are maintained in Work Job Files and completed accurately.

Objectives & Measurement:

• Maintain QA/QC performance standards, compliance to procedures & SOP’s – Measurement of Zero-NCR or QC Operator errors raised on self & QC Inspectors in NCR Reports.
• Assist Q.M.S Continual Improvement process by development of Error proofing devices, Self Audit QC procedures used daily- advice ideas, changes & recommend better suggestions for process improvement.
• Upgrade Competence skills by getting well involved/ actively participating  in In-house Training /On-THE-JOB- Training sessions and passing the required Tests/ practical as required.
• Perform KAIZEN projects to improve QA/QC Activities, process & minimize safety hazards & Risks involved.
Person Specification – Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications / Personal Attributes

• Previous experience in Workshops or Oilfield tubular equipment.  -Competence Level -   5(Min)
• Basic Mechanical skills, handling tools, measuring equipment.     -  Competence Level -   5(Min)
• Basic English reading/writing skills – Good report preparation skill - Competence Level -   5(Min)
• Yard Inspection, Tally Measurement, Drifting & Thread Inspection of OCTG Pipes  - Competence Level - 5(Min)
• Should be able to work closely with fellow employees – as a Team and assist Colleagues when Help is needed.
• ASNT Level-II in MT & PT – NDT methods  -                                    Minimum Competence Level -  5
• Previous Field Inspection of OCTG Pipes, Tools & Equipments is an added advantage.
